Troubleshooting Asset Data Visibility in VisionLink and MyCat.com

In this quick video, we address a common issue for VisionLink and MyCat.com users: not seeing Caterpillar asset information in Clue, E360, or other systems. While the assets appear in MyCat.com or VisionLink, the data isn't coming through the API. Here’s what you need to check.

Step 1: Verify Asset Subscription in VisionLink

  1. Log into VisionLink:
    • Ensure you can see all your assets reporting data, such as fuel tank levels.
  2. Check Subscription Status:
    • Click on the table settings (on the right side) to add "Subscription Status" and "Subscription" fields.
    • After adding these fields, you’ll see their statuses next to each asset.

Step 2: Confirm Subscription Tier

Caterpillar has multiple VisionLink service tiers, but not all enable API data access. The minimum tier required is Connect Pro. Here’s a quick overview of the tiers:

  • Connect Pro
  • Performance
  • Performance Pro
  • Track Pro

If an asset is subscribed to just Connect, it won’t provide data through the API. Check the subscription field to ensure it’s at least on Connect Pro or higher.

How to Fix It

  • Review Subscription Options:
    • VisionLink offers several subscription levels. Check the VisionLink page for details on Connect, ConnectPro, Performance, PerformancePro, Track, and TrackPro.
  • Contact Your Dealer:
    • If unsure about your subscription level or facing issues, contact your dealer. They have telematics experts who can help, though they might need this video to understand the details.

In 99% of cases, the issue lies in the subscription level. Ensure you’re on the correct tier to get data through the API.

Summary

By verifying your subscription status and tier, you can resolve most data visibility issues in VisionLink and MyCat.com. Share this video with your dealer for further assistance if needed.
